Chapter 9 - Composition
“I don’t place actors; I strategically deploy them like chess pieces on a cinematic battlefield.”
Alfred Hitchcock
Composition is the silent director of every frame. In AI video generation, the way you describe
spatial weight, balance, and focal placement tells the viewer exactly where to look and how
to feel before a single line of dialogue is spoken.
Alfred Hitchcock
Quick-start syntax
Structure for composition prompts:
composition [placement][aspect_ratio][foreground][background]
All fields are optional. Omitting any term keeps the default value for that parameter. Composition weight & placement
Placement, or visual weight, determines how the viewers’ eyes read a frame. In AI prompts, composition keywords can be used to control this balance. Positioning a subject on the left side often suggests forward movement or expectation. Centering a subject directs full attention to them, creating an immediate and unavoidable focal point. Symmetry distributes weight evenly, producing a sense of balance and calm.
